TEHRAN – The Imam Ali (AS) Religious Arts Museum is hanging a collection of posters by Swiss graphic designer Stephan Bundi in an exhibition, which opened on Friday.

Swiss ambassador Giulio Haas along with a number of Iranian artists and graphic designers attended the opening ceremony, the Persian service of ISNA reported.

Graphic designer Iraj Mirza-Alikhani, one of the organizers of the event, made a brief speech at the opening ceremony.

“(Graphic designers) Morteza Momayyez and Farshid Mesqali played a major role in organizing such exhibits in Iran. They believed we needed to invite world famous designers and examine their works closely,” Mirza-Alikhani said.

“Examining a poster and getting to know its layout is another story,” he added.

“We began with Poland and later held an exhibition of posters from Denmark and now it is the time for the Swiss,” he said.

In his speech, the Swiss ambassador also introduced Bundi as one of the greatest Swiss designers.

He said that so far Bundi has received many international awards and his works have been displayed in museums around the world.

Graphic designer Ladan Rezai also talked about Bundi’s works and said that the distinguished creativity and the attractive colors he uses in his posters remain in every visitor’s mind.

For his part, Bundi also expressed thanks to the organizers of the exhibition.

Stephan Bundi is a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale (AGI) and president of AGI-Switzerland.

After graduating in graphic design in Switzerland and studying book design and illustration at the State Academy of Art and Design in Stuttgart, Bundi built up a successful design practice. His works are represented and documented in numerous publications around the world.

Bundi is scheduled to hold several workshops next week at the museum on the sidelines of the exhibit, which has been organized in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Tehran.

The exhibit will be running until February 9.
